My Journey as a Film Photographer Enthusiast
Welcome to Myfilmera! I’m excited to finally share my journey with you all, diving into everything I love about film photography. I’m not a professional by any means, but I’ve been passionate about photography since 2013. As a film photography enthusiast, I’ve learned a ton through trial and error, and I want to use this space to share that journey, offer some tips, and just have fun with it.
A little bit about me - I’m originally from Chile, and in 2021, I moved to the United States right in the middle of the pandemic. I’m currently getting my bachelor’s degree in communication and digital marketing. My photography journey really took off during a trip back to Chile when my dad reminded me about the film cameras he bought some time ago. He asked me to take it back to my partner, who is also into film photography, but I figured, why not try it myself? haha. So, I bought a roll of Fujifilm 200, put it into my Dad’s Zenit 12XP, and hit the streets of Santiago, and that was the moment I fell in love with film. There's something so exciting about not knowing how your pictures will turn out or even if they’ll come out at all. For me, it really makes me focus on the present and the moment I’m in. I’m not rushing to take hundreds of shots like with digital cameras, where I used to kind of lose those intimate moments. Film slows you down and makes you more aware of what’s in front of you. It forces you to pay attention to the little things—the details you’d normally miss.
In this blog, I’ll share my experiences—what I’ve learned about photography, the gear I’m using, and all the little things I pick up along the way. I’ll also share some of my favorite shots and the stories behind them so that you can see the world through my lens.
Thanks for being here and joining me on this journey!
